We keep things clear, practical, and fun at Stratton & Co. Our events aren’t dry financial talks. They’re lunches, outings, and seminars where you’ll learn something useful and meet good people. This year they’re also a party: 2026 is our 25th anniversary, and we intend to celebrate it properly. Keep an eye on this page.
The Retirement Essentials Series covers, over a good lunch, the subjects we believe every retiree ought to have squared away. If you’re new to us, start with the first two sessions.
Clients are welcome at as many as they like. Each one is a practical 40-minute talk with clear visuals and take-home materials, followed by a relaxed social hour. We hold them at nice local restaurants or in our Learning Lounge in Nocatee.
1. Unstress and Untax Your Retirement: Smart ways to help you keep more of your money and worry less about the rest. A good first session if you’re new to us.
2. Retirement Case Studies: Hypothetical household stories from 25 years of practice, including the diligent saver who couldn’t let herself spend and the couple whose Alaska brochure sat in a kitchen drawer for six years. What good planning could help change for each of them.
3. Conservative Investing: How we manage money for people who can’t afford to gamble but still need growth. Risk levels, diversification, rebalancing, and why dependable income is what lets a portfolio sit through a bad year.
4. Modern Annuities Explained: What today’s lifetime-income contracts do, what they cost, what your heirs receive, and who we believe shouldn’t buy one at all. We spend real time on that last part.
5. Mental Accounting: Why the same dollar feels different arriving as income than sitting in savings, and how to put that wiring to work instead of fighting it.
6. Strategies to Help Maximize Social Security and Medicare: What waiting to claim may be really worth, why the higher earner’s timing matters more for a surviving spouse, and the Medicare enrollment windows you only get once.
7. Tax and Legacy Planning: Roth conversions, required distributions, the potential tax surprise waiting for widows and heirs, and how to help leave your family a gift instead of a stack of paperwork.

Ever since the Stratton family was helped so much through a difficult time with a child, we have tried to give back with regular toy drives to Wolfson.
